Another design inspired by a Spoonflower challenge
Passementerie: ornamental trimmings such as tassels, braids and fringe made of cord, beading or metallic thread.
I went a little different on it, although it still has the trimmings of ribbon and metallic accents. I love illustrating peonies, they’re just so soft and delicate, and you can do so much with them. With these, I did my very best to mimic watercolor painting, including the splashes and seeping edges you get when working wet-on-wet. It is also reminiscent of a practice of painting kimono called “yuzen,” which I will write more about when I have less brain fog than I do at the moment.
