I love yukata – they’re the summer kimono you wear, usually either with bright repeating prints or more subdued colors. They’re most commonly seen worn at festivals here in Japan, and it’s always neat to see what people are wearing. This print is inspired by them, and will be available on my Spoonflower as soon as my samples come in!
This print is really light and subtle. Everything has a kind of watercolor wash over it, which I think is especially nice for summer. The flowers are small and accented with periwinkle, one of those colors I love because it’s not quite blue, not quite purple. I’ve even entered it in a contest on Spoonflower, so here’s hoping I place somewhere in it.
It feels like it should be on a linen or sheer fabric, and would make a great wrap or shawl when printed small all over! It just has a nice, airy quality to it I think.
