The Spoonflower prompt “Pets on Vacation” was just too much fun. It made me want to do something fun and silly, and I actually did two pieces, but this one is my entry.
A maneki-neko (beckoning cat) leads a tour of other kitties and kittens in kimono around famous sights in Japan, including shrines (the red torii gates), Mt. Fuji, and of course enjoying hanami (flower viewing) of cherry blossoms in spring! Each cat is wearing traditional kimono and enjoying themselves immensely on their trip!
I love doing cute illustrations like this, but it seems like it’s just me that likes them. Regardless, I’m going to be putting this on some products in the future (I especially want a doormat for the house with this on it!) but for now, I hope you enjoy!
